Love, Joy, and Fear

If you missed the meeting on December 9th, you can catch up here.

Chapter 1: Love
-we only know what love really is by looking to our Savior
-we need to meditate on the Gospel
-we must daily go to the cross and see our Savior's love for the unlovable (us).

Questions:
Who do you have a hard time loving?
What can you do to help your relationship with that person?
What are some idols that you might be holding above God?

Chapter 2: Rejoice
- Joy in Christ is found by surrendering your will to the Holy Spirit
- We cannot have true joy outside of Christ
- We as Christians have more reason to be joyful than anyone, because Jesus is our Savior
- No matter what your situation is, you can rejoice in Christ

Questions:
What makes it hard for you to be joyful?
How can we receive the joy found in the Bible?
Why do we not experience the joy found in the Bible?
What things in our lives can distract us from joy?

Chapter 3: Fear

We often fear other things instead of God. We are afraid that we won't be accepted or won't be respected by those we admire. Sadly, we often find our identity in these worldly things. We must remember that our identity is found in Christ. Afraid of fighting with others and suffering blinds us from seeing that they are  becoming our idols. Matthew 10:28 says, "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in @#!*% ." When we face these fears, we must refresh ourselves with God's word and remember that he loves us.

Questions:

What are some things that you fear?

Are your fears turning into idols?

Where do you put your identity?

How can you apply this to your life?
